Scientific Laboratory Supplies Supports Youth Club
Founded in 1924, FetLor Youth Club provides a safe and supportive environment for children and young people in North Edinburgh. They focus on building their resilience and confidence, helping them unlock their full potential. Their dedicated team supports members in achieving their ambitions and becoming positive contributors to their communities.
Their mission is to be a consistent, trusted resource for young people, especially during challenging times. Skilled youth workers build vital relationships, offering guidance and support when it's needed most.Each week, they welcome 300 young people, providing them with a healthy, hot meal and a chance to have fun, learn new skills, and explore new experiences. All of their activities and food are completely free. This support is particularly crucial during the colder months, and we deeply appreciate donations of super
market vouchers which directly help young people and their families in the area.

Scientific Laboratory Supplies are part of The University of Edinburgh's supply chain, and as the University is a key stakeholder in the ESES City Region Deal and are devoted to ensuring maximum positive community impact through all their contracts. As such they had recommended to the portal to SLS to help fulfil their community benefits.
We were approached by Gerry Rooney, Regional Sales Manager for SLS who knew first hand of the fantastic work FetLor Youth Centre carries out from when he previously lived in the area, and was keen to help with their request.
“We received a gift card for a local supermarket. We were able to use the money received to make sure a number of families in the local area had enough for Christmas and would be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner that they may not otherwise have been able to do. A huge thanks to Gerry and his team at Scientific Labs. It was great to meet Gerry and learn about his FetLor experience in the 1970s. It's fantastic too that former members are still attached to our club.”
It was a privilege to be involved and to be able to assist, even in such a small way. These activities really are a wake-up call and an acute reminder on the difficulties faced by so many children.
