Description

An enviornmental education charity in Fife has benefitted from the donation of waterproof garments for their ourdoor apprentices thanks to Keela.

Sustainable Communities Initiatives (SCI) is a grassroots charity working with children, young people and communities to lessen their footprint on the earth.

Their projects focus on nature connection, empowerment and creativity by learning traditional skills; helping communities come together and transforming waste.

Grace from Keela hands over to Ellie, apprentice at SCI

They work with children and teenagers, most of whom are, for varying reasons, not in mainstream education.

They currently employ apprentices to further their vision of cultural regeneration in a nature-connected society. Being outdoors every week all year round requires robust, sustainable waterproofs.

Keela was founded on the East Coast of Scotland - the perfect place to innovate and test outdoor garments for the changeable British weather. With their HQ located in Glenrothes, they continue to provide UK-led designs.

Keela were the first Scottish clothing manufacturer to sign up to the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP) and boycott harmful substances such as PVC and PTFE laminates. They use raw materials from sustainable sources and donate unneeded fabric to charities
