Uplift of fly-tipping

Fife Coast & Countryside Trust
Description

A community litter pick in Fife benefitted from the collection of bulky and heavy refuse thanks to BAM Construction.
The litter pick on the River Leven in Methil, organised by Fife Coast & Countryside Trust, was in close proximity to BAM Construction’s works on the new Levenmouth Rail Link in conjunction with Network Rail.
The Trust manages, maintains and preserves wide areas of the countryside of Fife, promoting responsible access to our wonderful and diverse outdoor sites.
They look after over 30 sites and path networks throughout Fife including the Fife Coastal Path, the Lomond Hills Regional Park, local nature reserves and other locations which are important for recreation and conservation.
A large amount of refuse was collected on the day by volunteers from various organisations and the local community.
Several of these included public bins which had been set alight – the melted remains of which were too heavy for volunteers to carry but contained a number of chemicals and plastics which may have been harmful to the local environment.
BAM kindly responded to a request to send one of their site vehicles to uplift these bins and transport them to the spot they would be uplifted.
