Volunteer with The Turing Trust
The Turing Trust
Description
The Turning Trust, based in Loanhead, Midlothian, refurbishes IT equipment, installs a range of educational software, and provides it to those who need it most.
Founded by Alan Turing’s family, we bridge the digital divide. From our Loanhead hub, we empower the community across Edinburgh and the South East through IT training and volunteering.
- By refurbishing tech for schools here and abroad, we provide life-changing tools while reducing e-waste.
- Additionally, we provide skills-building opportunities across Scotland for those facing traditional barriers to employment, struggles with mental or physical health, homelessness, those with refugee status, and many more.
- We also emphasise a circular life-cycle model, reducing Carbon emissions by reusing and recycling IT kit.
Our mission is local social impact, ensuring no one is left behind in a digital world.
Our Ask:
Volunteer with The Turing Trust!
We are looking for volunteers from local organisations who can assist with operational tasks at our Pentland site. This would include assisting with the preparation of IT equipment for redeployment to our beneficiaries, such as by helping to box and pack.
This support will benefit thousands of people, and we can be flexible with timing and the number of people we can accommodate for each session.
We do not charge businesses to volunteer with us. However, we do always welcome contributions!
*We are also looking for donations of unused tech; see the request here.
