Building Materials and Support Request
Edinburgh Society of Model Engineers
Description
Founded in 1898, the Edinburgh Society of Model Engineers (ESME) is the world's oldest club of its kind. ESME is a community of model engineering enthusiasts who share a love for building and creating.
The society owns an 11 acre woodland site in West Lothian, which is being transformed into a Model Engineering Centre and miniature railway. Members volunteer their time and skills to build everything from the ground up, including impressive buildings for indoor engineering and miles of railway track.
Many members use their professional expertise to create exciting additions like bridges and other detailed components for the track and the progress they have made since taking over the site is admirable.
ESME is dedicated to sharing the benefits of it's hobby with the wider community. They like to collaborate with local schools and other groups to teach new skills and showcase the mental and physical health benefits that come from creative pursuits.
How can you support this project?
As part of the group's ambitious project, they are building an 11-acre model engineering centre and model railway, which will be used by their members and allow members of the public the chance to visit and enjoy the space through collaborative efforts and visitor days.
The group are always keen to rehome good-quality building materials, preventing them from going to waste and saving AMEC financial outlay.
- They are interested in supplies of sand, cement, and other materials, as well as donations that would help them with their long-term project to develop this important facility.
- They would also appreciate 2 new wheelbarrows to help them carry materials around the site with ease.
