Description

Coldingham Brave Bayers is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that exists to empower and encourage people to access blue and green spaces through wild swimming and related activities.

Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their age, gender, background, ability, or identity, has the opportunity to improve their physical, mental and social well-being in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment.

We are seeking support to access a rugged tablet, such as the Getac F110, to enhance the safe delivery of outdoor wellbeing programmes.

How it began…

One of the founders was navigating an overwhelming period in her life and turned to outdoor swimming as a way to cope. In the water, she met a friend, and together they unintentionally sparked a community.

During the pandemic, our small circle grew into a movement. By October 2023, we had formalised our work and became a CIC, committed to staying small, dynamic, and always present for the people who need us.

Our request

We are seeking support to access a rugged tablet, such as the Getac F110, to enhance the safe delivery of outdoor wellbeing programmes. The device will support digital access for coaching, record-keeping, risk assessments, participant engagement, and real-time communication in remote blue and green environments.

This supports real-time risk assessments and safety management; improved communication with participants and emergency services; accessible digital resources for participants (e.g., visual guides, safety information); monitoring attendance, wellbeing outcomes, and impact reporting; reduced administrative burden; and enabling more time for direct community support.

Why it matters

Outdoor swimming delivers powerful physical, mental, and emotional benefits, from improved mood and better sleep to boosted immunity and a deep sense of connection with nature.

Simply being outdoors strengthens wellbeing too: clearer breathing, reduced stress, better sleep, stronger immunity, and a noticeable lift in mood.

And community amplifies all of this. It brings belonging, resilience, shared support, and practical opportunities that help people thrive. When people come together, they create strength, stability, and a sense of possibility that no one can build alone.

*We are also looking for some kit to help improve inclusion; you can see that request here.
