ESEN Winter Networking Event

21 Nov 2025

On Thursday, November 13th, Julie and Claire from the ESES Team had the pleasure of attending the Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network (ESEN) Winter Networking Event, hosted in the beautiful Edinburgh Open Workshop event space.

To quote ESEN, we were all there, ‘celebrating another year of incredible things happening in the city from people that care deeply about it and the people living in it.’

We heard from Tash, the Managing Director of Edinburgh Open Workshop, about how this fantastic venture grew organically.

Dr Mo Yan, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Queen Margaret University Business School and Dr Yingru Li, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University of Glasgow Business School, spoke to launch their next ‘Social Enterprise Challenge.' This is where student teams are placed in social enterprises to help them overcome problems and plan for the future.

You can see details from last year here. If you would like to be involved, please email info@esescommunities.org and we will share details as soon as they become available.

The next speaker was Abanyomi, talking about the Social Enterprise Tidy Scot. They believe cleaning should empower, not exploit.

Finally, we heard from Phoebe and Alix from Edinburgh Library of Things, whose mission is to give the Edinburgh community increased access to important items (both the useful and fun ones) without costing a fortune or the earth.

WHALE Arts provided the delicious catering, and Emma Liddell expertly facilitated the event.
