Scottish Pathways to Construction - A Celebration
On Tuesday, 29 September, we held a celebration event to mark the conclusion of the Scottish Pathways to Construction (SPC) programme. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders who have supported delivery over the past two years, including local authorities, skills providers, third-sector organisations, employers, colleges, policymakers, and graduates of the programme.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of this CITB Industry Impact Fund-funded initiative, delivered by Capital City Partnership and Balfour Beatty on behalf of the construction industry. Over the two-year programme, SPC supported 105 participants, with 81 progressing into positive destinations so far, including employment, apprenticeships and further training.
A key part of the event was the launch of the Pathways to Participation Guide, which highlights practical approaches to removing barriers that are often overlooked when supporting individuals into careers in the construction sector.
In the next edition, we will share more information about the guide, how partners can utilise it within their organisations, and how we can continue to make a difference together across the industry. We also want to recognise that many employers and delivery partners are already leading the way in this area, and we are extremely grateful for the learning, experience and good practice they shared in helping to shape the guide. Their continued commitment to inclusive recruitment and workforce development will be vital in building a more accessible and diverse construction industry for the future.
There are a number of physical guides ready to be sent out to any partner that would welcome a copy. If you would like a hard copy, please email ellen.munro@capitalcitypartnership.org with your address, and we will be sure to get these posted.
The online version will be published on www.esescommunities.org, and we will add the link here as soon as it is live.
