University of Edinburgh Social Impact
We are delighted to share the University of Edinburgh Social Impact Pledge with you.
Through this Scottish Government scheme, organisations across Scotland commit to increasing their social impact by publicly committing to change their current operations or policies.
The University of Edinburgh’s new Pledge has three commitments:
1. Procurement: "Starting this year and over the coming years, we will extend the pilot approach we have been taking to community benefits within our procurements.”
2. Community-engaged learning: "As part of our Learning and Teaching Strategy 2030 and Community Plan, we will embed, within our curriculum, learning opportunities for students which take place in and with communities.”
3. Edinburgh Medical School 300 Community Connections: "We will undertake activities that ensure our local communities feel a tangible positive impact of our celebration of 300 years of the Faculty of Medicine (EMS300) at the University of Edinburgh.”
The ESES Communities Team has been heavily involved in the pilot approach mentioned in ‘Commitment 1’, and many communities throughout the ESES City Region have already benefited. You can learn how via our Case Studies.
You can read more details about ‘Commitment 1’ here, and if you would like to discuss submitting a request for support, reach out to the team at infor@esescommunities.org
