Design a Business – Primary School Project
The team at Morrison Construction visited five local primary schools within the Tweedbank project area: Tweedbank Primary School, Langlee Primary School, St Margaret’s Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School, and Melrose Primary School.
As part of the project, pupils were given an imaginary budget of £50 to develop a business idea that met five key criteria:
The pupils worked collaboratively to create and develop their business concepts before presenting them to a panel of four judges. Each school pitched their ideas in a Dragons’ Den-style competition, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial skills. In recognition of their hard work and achievements, the participating schools won a cluster prize of £1,000 worth of STEM activities.
These resources will be shared across all schools, providing lasting educational benefits and supporting continued learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The project helped develop pupils’ confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and presentation skills while encouraging social responsibility, sustainability, and enterprise thinking.
