Cundall Support Fresh Start

Fresh Start is an Edinburgh-based charity helping people who have been homeless get established in their new homes.

Working in partnership with volunteers and organisations from a broad section of the community, Fresh Start delivers a range of services that provide the practical and social support people need to resettle successfully.

Each year, Fresh Start helps thousands of new tenants settle into their homes.

This can only be achieved by the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of the donations they receive.

Fresh Start works to end the cycle of homelessness via its innovative services, including:

  • Fresh Rooms: volunteers decorating new homes
  • Growing Spaces: community gardens in Edinburgh
  • Fresh Start Pantry: a community food club
  • Starter Packs: to help people set up their new home
  • North Edinburgh Support Service
  • Cooking Classes
  • Help to get white goods

This requires much planning, and their dedicated office staff were on the lookout for new kit to ensure their effectiveness.

Cundall approached the ESES Communities Team via our Portal in early February 2025. They were about to move their Edinburgh office from Semple Street to George Street. They had some office furniture going spare and were interested in donating it.

It was originally being sold through Recycle Scotland, but when they browsed out portal, they noticed that some local organisations were looking for office furniture and they were happy to donate. They sent us the link to the items that were being sold, and all the orgnaistions had to do was chose their desired items and pick them up.

Cundall were keen to find an organization that could make use of the IT equipment and donated computer monitors, mice and keyboards.

The IT equipment generously donated will be greatly used by our staff, who will use it to support families and individuals moving on from homelessness throughout Edinburgh. Thanks so much to the staff at Cundall and ESES for making this donation possible; it’s really appreciated.

Cundall's donation has supported 20 dedicated members of Fresh Start staff, who support thousands of households throughout Edinburgh.

Donations like this to community organisations echo Cundall's ethos.

They "seek every opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of its operations, therefore donating this equipment helped to reduce waste and support those helping others within our local community."
