Graham Supports Inclusive Cycling Club
In‑Tandem East Lothian is more than a tandem cycling club; it is a community built on connection, confidence, and the simple joy of movement. Based at Queen Margaret University and launched in October 2024, the club opens the world of cycling to people with disabilities who might otherwise miss out on the freedom that two wheels can bring.
Their mission is rooted in dignity and possibility. With trained front riders offering reassurance and support, participants can experience the physical lift of outdoor exercise and the mental wellbeing that comes from being active, included, and part of something bigger. Every ride helps break down barriers, reduce isolation, and create moments of independence and joy.
When In‑Tandem submitted a request through the ESES Communities portal, they weren’t just asking for equipment; they were asking for the tools to keep their community growing. GRAHAM, a company known for delivering major construction and development projects across the UK and Ireland, immediately recognised the value of what In‑Tandem is building.
Corporate and social responsibility sit at the heart of GRAHAM’s work, and with their Brunstane Primary School project recently completed for the City of Edinburgh Council, they were eager to give back to the local community in a meaningful way.
Their support has been practical, thoughtful, and deeply appreciated. By funding essential items, including a secure storage shed, hose reel and attachments, a pump‑action spray bottle, and a toolbox, GRAHAM has helped ensure that In‑Tandem can continue offering safe, supported cycling experiences to those who benefit most.
This partnership shows what happens when community need meets corporate commitment: people gain opportunities, confidence grows, and the whole region becomes stronger.
Through the ESES Communities Portal, we were able to connect directly with a local charity and respond to their specific needs. This support helped ensure practical resources were put in place quickly, creating a tangible and positive impact for the community.
We’re incredibly grateful to GRAHAM Group for their generous donation of items to help us store our cycling equipment and keep our tandems clean. Your support helps us create more opportunities for people to experience the joy of tandem cycling, especially for those who might not otherwise have the chance. A big thank you as well to ESES Communities for bringing us together. These kinds of collaborations make a huge difference to a small charity like ours — we truly appreciate it!
