Bell Group donates laptops to Super Power Agency

Bell Group

Bell is currently one of the largest property services contractors in the UK, both in terms of geographical coverage and its directly employed workforce. It is a family-owned and operated company that offers a full spectrum of property services.

They are dedicated to doing what is right and not what is easy. They are proud of this, and they believe the success of their contracts is driven by community investment and the involvement of local people.

Super Power Agency

Super Power Agency is a literacy charity based in Edinburgh. Its writing programmes allow young people to discover their confidence and imagination, and the charity aims to increase literacy rates in Scotland.

They run creative writing workshops in schools, building self-belief and engagement, and print young people's work in anthologies after each project, helping them become published authors.

They work in some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged and under-resourced areas, delivering workshops that encourage and empower young people to put pen to paper, build their writing skills, and express themselves confidently.

The Request: Laptops urgently needed for after-school and holiday clubs

The Super Power Agency has a tiny team of three staff members, two part-time workshop facilitators, and a team of volunteers who support its work in schools and remotely.

This summer, they could not run one of their usual summer programmes because their laptops were no longer fit for purpose. Using laptops that are not fit for purpose can significantly hinder the daily efficiencies of a charity by causing slowdowns, software incompatibilities, and frequent technical issues, ultimately diverting valuable time and resources away from their core mission.

The Match

Bell became aware of the ESES Communities Portal via their client, the University of Edinburgh.

As part of their commitment to sustainability and digital inclusion, they run a device recycling initiative that repurposes laptops, tablets, and smartphones for community use. This initiative helps reduce electronic waste while supporting communities with valuable digital resources. When they saw the Super Power Agency request, they felt it was a great fit for their values.

Claire Heffernan, CEO, Super Power Agency, said:

"We aim to make creative writing fun with a range of different subjects, like narrative design and script writing. These laptops will allow us to install specific software for the young people to use. This also means we can offer the devices to those young people who find writing difficult using a pen and paper."

Thanks to the laptops provided by Bell Group, we can now offer a wider range of creative writing workshops and make our sessions more inclusive for young people. These resources help us unlock creativity in new ways and ensure every young person has the tools to share their voice and write their story.

At Bell Group, we are passionate about supporting organisations that empower young people and foster creativity. Donating recycled digital equipment to Super Power Agency in Edinburgh was a natural fit for us. Their work in helping young people find their voice through writing and storytelling is inspiring, and we’re proud to contribute to their mission in a sustainable and meaningful way.
