GVAV Supports the Community Wellbeing Collective

Based in Wester Hailes, the Community Wellbeing Collective (CWC) is a brilliant local charity that boosts health, wellbeing, and social connection for residents.

They run a wide range of activities that support mental health, physical activity, and community confidence, creating a safe, creative, and genuinely welcoming space that tackles isolation and the pressures of poverty head‑on.

From creative workshops, language exchanges and job‑search support to men’s groups, community meals and movement classes like chair yoga and Zumba, CWC offers something for everyone right on their doorstep.

GVAV, a long‑standing supplier to the University of Edinburgh, brings over 50 years of expertise in designing, supplying, and maintaining professional Audio Visual solutions. As part of the University’s commitment to ensuring suppliers deliver positive social impact, GVAV stepped forward without hesitation.

Giving back is already part of who they are. Through their initiative, GVCARES, they regularly donate high‑quality equipment they no longer need, ensuring it goes straight to organisations and individuals who can put it to good use. For GVAV, passing on resources they no longer use isn’t just practical, it’s genuinely rewarding.

The Community Wellbeing Collective recently received a generous boost from GVAV: a new microphone stand that will directly support their events and workshops. This simple yet essential bit of kit improves accessibility and sound quality for speakers and the 50 participants they regularly bring together.

As a group focused on connection, wellbeing, and inclusion, the Collective depends on reliable equipment to create welcoming spaces where every voice is heard. GVAV’s donation, made through their GVCARES initiative, reflects a shared commitment to strengthening community life and helping local projects thrive.

"We were made aware that a microphone stand was required for open mic nights for the Community Wellbeing Collective because they were borrowing one from different sources each month in order to have these nights. This seemed impractical, and if they were unable to source it, they were unsure whether these nights could go ahead. We checked our stock and found a height-adjustable microphone stand, which we donated. We did not want anyone to miss out on these events. These nights can be the only opportunity some people have to get out and socialise, and being on stage can be a real confidence boost. Here at GVAV, we do love giving back to communities and the rewarding feeling we receive when we hear that the stock we receive can go back to help others rather than going to waste, collecting dust."

Your gift has brought a new level of professionalism into a community that deserves it, just like every community does. It’s helping people learn, grow, and use tools that make creative expression feel easier and more joyful. Most importantly, it’s building confidence.
