Rooting for the Future: Clark Contracts & Tree Time
Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts has grown into a diverse, forward-thinking team delivering construction, refurbishment, fit-out and maintenance projects across the UK. They deliver projects for both private and public sector customers, including small alterations, quick-turnaround refurbishments, and new-build developments.
One of their customers, the University of Edinburgh, encouraged them to contact the ESES Communities Team to help them add social value to their contract. Giving back is at the heart of what they do; their team is committed to making a positive impact in the communities they serve, and they quickly found some causes they were keen to get behind.
Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust has one vision: Everyone in Edinburgh & the Lothians has access to quality greenspaces to support their health & wellbeing.
They are an independent charity and social enterprise dedicated to improving the quality of life for local communities by reconnecting people with their natural environment. Established in 1991, the Trust operates on the core belief that high-quality green spaces, ranging from urban parks and woodlands to community gardens and cycle paths, are essential for physical health, mental well-being, and social cohesion. By delivering a diverse programme of environmental projects and health-focused initiatives, ELGT works to tackle health inequalities, enhance biodiversity, and create climate-resilient landscapes across Edinburgh and the Lothians, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the outdoors.
When Clark Contracts saw this request on the portal, they were keen to support it and contributed £1000 to ELGT, which went towards their tree planting initiative, Tree Time, which will support the planting of trees in the Edinburgh and Lothians areas.
The team at ELTG said. "This donation helps us improve greenspaces across the region. Through this donation, we can reduce the effects of climate change - especially the urban heat island effect - support biodiversity through providing valuable habitat and food sources, and create greener and healthier environments for people to live in, to boost their health and wellbeing.
We would like to thank Clark Contracts for supporting our tree planting initiative, through which we can encourage nature and people to thrive."
