The charity is perhaps best known for managing the West Lothian Toy Appeal, a year-round campaign that ensures children in the region receive gifts for their birthdays and at Christmas. They act as a vital safety net for disadvantaged families by providing a wide range of tangible resources, including new and pre-loved clothing, shoes, bedding, and essential household items like beds.
Beyond providing material goods, River Kids is deeply involved in local education and well-being; they fund healthy snack programmes in schools within areas of high deprivation and provide grants to help children participate in extracurricular activities and school camps. By working closely with a network of referral agencies such as health visitors and social workers, River Kids provides a rapid, compassionate response that helps alleviate the stress of poverty and improves the long-term prospects of young people across the county.
Over the last year they have seen a huge rise in demand for essential clothing packs for young people who are fleeing difficult home or unsafe situations. The packs provide essential items for 7 days including tops, trousers, jumpers and pyjamas.
1in 2025 450 weekly packs were distributed to those in need, so support from businesses like 2B Scientific is essential to help continue supporting the community in need.
A huge thank you to 2BScientific for recognising the importance of private and third sector collaboration. These funds are vital to our ability to make a difference to children in our communities lives. These donations enable River Kids to purchase clothing for children in West Lothian experiencing material deprivation. This ensures the child can have weather appropriate and clean clothes everyday.
