The School Bank West Lothian are a registered charity based in Livingston. The group is led by volunteers whose aim is to improve the lives of children in families in West Lothian experiencing financial hardship by providing them with a brand new school uniform and other clothing and equipment required for school.
The families referred to the incredibly dedicated team at The School Bank West Lothian need help for many different reasons, such as fleeing domestic abuse, mental health issues, parents facing in-work poverty, and homelessness. Although West Lothian has one of the largest school clothing grants in Scotland, many families they help are ineligible for the grant or find that it doesn’t cover the cost of uniforms, supplies and shoes across the school year.
Currently 1 in 4 children in West Lothian are living in poverty, which highlights how important the work that the team deliver.
The team provide packs for referred children including uniform essentials for P1 - S6.
The School Bank require a wide range of ages from P1 to S6 - In order to ensure education is not disrupted, the team provide children with school uniform item packs consisting of essential items.
