Items and Equipment for Community Crofts
Earth in Common
Description
Earth in Common started as a movement of Leithers in Edinburgh reclaiming common good land to make healthy food and nature accessible for themselves and their children.
For the first years of their existence, they were known as Leith Community Crops in Pots.
Now they are Earth in Common working more broadly to tackle a broken food system, climate change and social inequality locally, nationally and internationally.
Building community and food growing are at their core, however, to realise their above ambitions, they have developed a number of initiatives, most notably their Urban Croft model - this can help generate community solidarity and wellbeing, strengthen the local economy, and contribute to community wealth building and skill-training.
Their aim is to share this idea with communities across Scotland to help them reclaim derelict urban green spaces to establish urban crofts as together, they believe empowered urban communities can play a vital part in our move to food sovereignty.
