Auld Kirk Players, Kirkcaldy

Status:
Location: Kirkcaldy
Town: Kirkcaldy

Description

The Auld Kirk Players is Kirkcaldy’s oldest Amateur drama group (Fife’s second oldest) Performing to a local audience since 1957 we are proud to celebrate our 65th Anniversary in 2023.  We have won many awards during those 65 years, but the best reward is always the reaction from our loyal audience.

We perform self-written plays as well as scripts by well-known playwrights, we also support the other groups in the area such as the Kirkcaldy Civic Society and of course the Auld Kirk Trust. Our small hall has been transformed from an old stately mansion, a funeral parlour to a space station!

The group prides itself on being a proper community group so our door (stage?) is always open to newcomers. Our motto “Histriones in Scaenam” means “Beginners on stage” it is the famous call to inform actors that the play is about to start, but we take it as also supporting people in the town to get involved in theatre - We are always looking for back-stage assistants as well!

For a small group we continue to add to Kirkcaldy’s cultural history, helping to ensure that the theatre experience is available to all the community.

Auld Kirk Players needs to upgrade their laptop to allow them to continue entertaining the community.  Auld Kirk Players are open to a donation of cash or a laptop which is either new or used.
