Description

Since November 2021, the Edinburgh Remakery’s very first Tech Donation Box has been hosted by the Filmhouse Cinema. Placed in their foyer and easily accessible to members of the public, its purpose is to help people pass on their unwanted laptops, phones, tablets, cameras and chargers for them to be refurbished and repaired, instead of being thrown away!

 

This first trial of our Tech Donation Box proved to be a huge success, and has pushed The Edinburgh Remakery to expand our donation box portfolio across Edinburgh, working with organisations and businesses from all corners of the city to tackle electronic waste including the Scottish Government, Parliament and Edinburgh Academy. 

The Tech Donation Box also has a social benefit, as it directly helps to fuel our Tech Gifting programme by supplying us with laptops and other electronic devices which we can then repair and donate to marginalised communities across the city who need it most. This is a great way to do your part for local communities and help contribute to the circular economy at the same time. 

This regifting service helps to provide a more equal, fair and accessible culture for those living in digital poverty by giving them the tools that so many people take for granted. Additionally, the project is helping to educate people on effective e-waste reduction and is an important step in reducing the number of usable electronics that are being mismanaged and ending up harming our natural environment.

We also provide carbon savings reports to help you understand what difference you're actually making, giving real-world explanations such as the number of trees planted and sequestering carbon or miles driven in a car. Helping to give an easy introduction to carbon literacy as well as some great stats to post on social media as part of your environmental work!We are a registered data wipe organisation with ISO 27001 accreditation so you can trust that any data will be handled securely.

 

We are looking for organisations to sponsor and host our boxes in their space or sponsor a box to go into a different space. It's a great project to be involved with to reach your environmental and social goals.

We have 3 sponsorship tiers Bronze (£850), Silver (£1000) and Gold (£1200) with varying different benefits including a custom front vinyl on our boxes including your logo!
