Description

Team Jak provides practical, social and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses age 0-25, and their families, friends and those bereaved of a child from cancer or children bereaved of someone from cancer.

Established in 2015 by inspirational teenager Jak Trueman before he died of a rare blood cancer as a result of his direct lived experience of the lack of emotional support available to young people and their families, we support children and young people throughout Scotland through Jaks Den HQ, pop up Jaks Dens in Aberdeen, Fife and Dundee, Lothian and Borders, Glasgow and the Paediatric Oncology wards in Edinburgh Glasgow and Aberdeen and through home and online/phone outreach and School support where required.

Jak's Den HQ in Livingston is our hub within the community from which we provide counselling, emotional and social support and various forms of therapy- including music, play and alternative therapies, one to one befriending support, bespoke Bag of Worries group support for warriors (children with cancer), siblings and angel families, coffee mornings, drop-ins and fun themed activity days for our young people and their families and friends with special emphasis on siblings.

We have a comprehensive timetable within Jak’s Den providing Parent Patter, Under 5s Mini Denners, Teen Lunch and Family Quiz nights, Mums, Dads events, days for grandparents, bespoke Bag of Worries groups for emotional resilience and lots of bereavement support activities for our siblings who have lost a brother or sister.

At Team Jak we require support and advice with our marketing and social media. This would allow us to develop our mailchimp and marketing campaigns to reach a wider audience and continue the vital work we do.
