Store cupboard goods needed

Description

Cyrenians are seeking food donations to be distributed to food banks across Central and Southeast Scotland.

Cyrenians provides innovative relationships-based support to people who are homeless or on the edge of homelessness. We recognise homelessness as a complex social issue with multiple inter-related causes and consequences. We provide preventive support through 47 services, improving the life chances of over 7,000 people each year.

The Cyrenians FareShare depot is a service that redistributes surplus food from the food industry to around 130 grassroots organisations. We also operate 6 community pantries. Every tonne of food redistributed prevents the release of 1.6 tonnes of embedded CO2.

We receive a majority of chilled and frozen food that is about to expire, and receive very little store cupboard goods. We are asking for donations of ambient food that can be safely stored at room temperature in a sealed container. Items such as tea and coffee seem like a tiny donation, but we have a huge need for them!

Examples of in-date foodstuffs and essentials that you can donate:

  • Tinned, bottled and jarred food and drinks
  • Dried food such as rice, pasta, cereals, biscuits, etc
  • Pet foods and associated waste disposal bags, etc
  • Household items such as tissues, kitchen roll, etc
  • Toiletries inc. toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, deodorant, razors, etc

If you can help, please click the button below, and a member of our team will be in touch to arrange.

*We are also seeking a whiteboard on wheels and a meeting pod for our Head Office.
