Support a Midlothian Food Pantry
Mayfield & Easthouses Development Trust
Description
Established in 2007, Mayfield and Easthouses Development Trust (MAEDT) are a charitable community organisation committed to reducing poverty and regenerating the local area.
In Midlothian, the communities of Mayfield and Easthouses are among the 20% most deprived areas in Scotland.
MAEDT has worked relentlessly to become the local hub by going above and beyond in its service delivery, and now supports residents through a range of services designed to address social, economic, and environmental needs.
Supporting over 200 households per week, the hub offers support through its garden and café, and a community pantry that provides residents with a dignified and empowering service, offering affordable food, free sanitary products, and fruit and vegetables on a membership basis.
Donations are essential in keeping the hub running and to continue the incredible work MAEDT offers. They would be appreciative to receive any of the following:
- Tinned food, especially tinned meats like Spam and chicken in sauce.
- Coffee; it is in high demand and expensive to buy.
- Dried food, especially cereal, is incredibly helpful for families. £100 could buy 80 boxes, and this would keep the pantry stocked with cereal for a couple of days.
- Other food/drink items (UHT milk, juice, condiments, tea bags, etc)
- Pet food and supplies
Due to the increased need for the Food Pantry in the community, the team at MAEDT has to regularly source additional funds to help plug any gaps. They would welcome any donations or financial support, which would go directly toward reducing food poverty in Mayfield and Easthouses.
