Support STEM Education

Description

Passion4Fusion, a Black Multi-Ethnic organisation in Scotland, was founded in 2014 by multicultural volunteers. They address inequalities, such as racism, underrepresentation, and poor access to services, by providing culturally appropriate support. This includes engaging with stakeholders and policymakers to advocate for better services.

Issue: Many young people have ‘no recourse to public funds’ and are stuck in a difficult position around the age of 16. They are too old for school and too young for work, but cannot access college. These young people are keen to move forward, but the system prevents this.

This is where Passion4Fusion makes a real difference. They offer free programmes in football, creative arts, music, dance, drama, and a STEM Club.

The Ask: Supporting STEM Education and Accessibility for Disadvantaged Young People

They seek funding and resource support to enhance accessibility and participation in STEM learning for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Why?

Last year, they won a competition. This has inspired more young people to want to get into STEM, but they do not have enough funding, which means they have a waiting list.

Their Passion4Fusion (P4F) Robotics programme provides young people with hands-on STEM education, fostering technology, engineering, and problem-solving skills. Participants develop critical thinking and teamwork skills through robotics design, coding, and innovation.

This programme prioritises inclusivity, offering opportunities to those from disadvantaged backgrounds to bridge the digital divide and increase access to future-ready skills. They aim to inspire young people to pursue careers in STEM fields, addressing underrepresentation in these sectors.

Through workshops, competitions, and community showcases, P4F Robotics promotes resilience, confidence, and a sense of achievement while building stronger, more connected communities.

Your support can make a meaningful difference in the following ways:

  1. Funding for Equipment and Resources
Financial contributions will enable the purchase of essential equipment, including robotics kits, coding software, and laptops. These tools are crucial in providing hands-on learning experiences that inspire creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.
  2. Workshop Facilitation and Venue Costs
Funding will also support facilitating interactive workshops, covering facilitator fees, venue hire, and necessary materials. This ensures all participants have a conducive learning environment, fostering collaboration and skill development.
  3. Competition Entry Fees
Many young people in our program aspire to compete in STEM-related competitions, which provide invaluable real-world experience and exposure. Sponsoring competition entry fees will allow them to showcase their talents and gain confidence in their abilities.
  4. Expanding Accessibility
To ensure inclusivity, we aim to provide fully funded places for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Removing financial barriers will enable more students to engage in STEM education, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

By contributing to any of these areas, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of young innovators and empowering them with skills that will open doors to endless opportunities.
