Trolley Required By The School Bank West Lothian
The School Bank West Lothian
Description
The School Bank West Lothian are a volunteer-led group aiming to improve the lives of children in families in West Lothian experiencing financial hardship by providing them with a brand new school uniform and other clothing and equipment required for the school day.
The families referred to the incredibly dedicated team at The School Bank West Lothian need help for many different reasons, such as fleeing domestic abuse, mental health issues, parents facing in-work poverty, and homelessness. Although West Lothian has one of the largest school clothing grants in Scotland, many families they help are ineligible for the grant or find that it doesn’t cover the cost of uniforms, supplies and shoes across the school year.
Currently 1 in 4 children in West Lothian are living in poverty, which highlights how important the work that the team deliver.
In order to take part in their education every child needs the right clothes and equipment. Physical Education or P.E. is just like every other lesson, children need the right clothes, footwear and a water bottle. Most children have a water bottle, but for many of the children referred to the School Bank that just isn’t the case. This can affect performance and concentration and invite stigma.
How can you help?
The team are seeking to acquire an additional trolley to serve as a dedicated, ergonomic workstation for uniform preparation. While their current unit has proven highly effective, it is currently the only surface suitable for taller team members to utilise for folding and packing etc. and the lack of a second elevated surface means working at an improper height, which poses a risk of back strain and long-term physical discomfort.
Adding a second trolley as a workstation would directly address these health and safety concerns while helping the team to continue their busy but essential workload, maintain a high standard of productivity without compromising on comfort or safety.
