Starlab’s West Lothian Christmas Campaign

Starlab are a Laboratory Consumables Manufacturer specialising in Liquid Handling Technology and laboratory essentials. Their driving force is passion. Passion for science. Passion for sustainability. Passion for making a real difference in the lab, every day.

As part of their supply contract with the University of Edinburgh, they are asked to engage with the ESES Communities Team to explore opportunities for social value investment in Edinburgh and South East Scotland.

Through this contact, they were introduced to two West Lothian organisations: River Kids and West Lothian Food Bank.

At River Kids, they believe that no child should go without.

That is why they enable positive change for disadvantaged children and their families by providing them with essential goods, clothing and toys, access to financial support through small grants and  help with finding employment through volunteering and work placements.

Their dedicated team members and volunteers work closely with support and social care services to raise standards of living, alleviate stress and provide opportunities for the young people of West Lothian to thrive.

They manage the West Lothian Toy Appeal, which provides gifts on birthdays and at Christmas, ensuring that children do not go without and can experience joy. Starlab made a cash donation to River Kids as part of their Christmas campaign.

We received 3,300 referrals for our 2025 Christmas Toy appeal, and every one of these children received a bag of toys. Thank you for helping us bring joy to children this Christmas. Your generosity truly made a difference.

West Lothian Foodbank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported Trussell, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

They don’t think anyone in their community should have to face going hungry. To mitigate this, they provide three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people in the West Lothian area who are referred to them in crisis.

They rely heavily on food donations and publish a list of non-perishable items which they are always in need of. You can see the list here

Lisa from Starlab dropped in a donation just before Christmas this year, which translated to 57kg of mixed non-perishable food items. The food bank reported that this donation provided 137 meals, with each food parcel lasting three days; therefore, the donation provided food for 15 people for three days.

Thank you so much for your fantastic donation. This will help us provide food and essential items to struggling families and individuals, while also bringing hope and dignity at a time when they need it most. Thank you for standing with us.
