Water Bottles Needed for West Lothian School

Description

St Kentigern's Academy is in Blackburn, West Lothian. The school's catchment area is very broad, and pupils come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The school has a Family Link Worker who is a member of staff whose role is to support pupils and their families by helping to remove barriers that might affect a young person's learning, attendance, wellbeing, or engagement with school. 

A significant barrier is the impact of poverty, and work is being done tirelessly to reduce these effects and promote inclusion. 

How You Can Help

The school now has water fountains installed and pupils are encouraged to bring their own bottles to refill. This is so important because hydration has been proven to improve both behavioural and cognitive function.

Many students come from low-income families, where even small essentials can be out of reach. Unfortunately, water bottles are not a priority for some families, so pupils often ask staff for cups or bottles of water. 

 

The school is therefore seeking donations of reusable water bottles to support both sustainability and its students. Any number of bottles would be very gratefully received.
