Bell – A company dedicated to doing what is right
Bell is currently one of the largest property services contractors in the UK, both in terms of geographical coverage and its directly employed workforce. They are dedicated to doing what is right and not what is easy. They take pride in this and believe the success of their contracts is driven by community investment and local involvement.
One of their customers is the University of Edinburgh, which, as a key stakeholder in the Edinburgh and South East of Scotland (ESES) City Region Deal, is actively working to embed social value within its procurement processes. They actively encourage their suppliers to engage with the ESES Communities Portal, and Angela Cree, Lead Community Engagement Coordinator at Bell, registered on the portal in June 2025.
Since then, this partnership has continued to grow from strength to strength. We are delighted to present the summary below.
- August 2025: Six laptops were donated to Super Power Agency, a children’s literacy charity, through their device recycling initiative. Case Study
- August 2025: Six corporate volunteering sessions were delivered at Fresh Start, a homelessness prevention charity. Case Study
- December 2025: UPMO, an organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, received a donation of five recycled monitors from Bell. Case Study
- February 2026: A return visit to Fresh Start including the donation of £4,500 worth of paint, along with 10 hours of training to support their Fresh Rooms programme. Case Study
- June 2026: A ‘We Transform’ project was delivered during a return visit to UPMO, refreshing key areas of their Leith premises, including a meeting room, corridor, and creative art space. Case Study

- June 2026: Two large corner desks were gifted, delivered, and installed at the UPMO head office.
It is a pleasure to highlight Bell’s investment in Edinburgh and South East Scotland, the positive impact of the University of Edinburgh’s commitment to embedding social value in its procurement processes, and the power of our portal to connect communities and good causes with suppliers and businesses across the ESES City Region Deal area.
